Why don't you just use the Rit Smite run build? There are enough good builds in here...

If you search enough you'll find several effective ranger ones that don't involve trapping also. But most people forget or are to lazy to search .

If you want to use VwK as a ritualist, just go with the rt/me build, or use the channeling Rt/W build.

So far, the +10 armor while holding an item, the Herald's Insignia, is the make or break for this build. If you have it, it will work, if you don't, it won't. Without it, you won't be able to tank 3 smites, with it, you will be able to tank 5+. Keep up troll, and if things look bad, run away with Natural.

I have found Stalwart insignias better actually. After all your taking physical dmg the entire time from smites/squidies. May as well have the +10 armor always vs. while your just holding VwK.

Well, I won't buy a another armor set just for this run. The needs to be improved but I don't have any ideas how.
@daky: smites deal fire damage, too and squidies do cold damage... and btw pls show me a smite run build without trapping

Show me prof that the squidies deal cold dmg. Yes smites deal fire dmg but your a ranger...you already got additional armor for elemental dmg.
As for showing you a solo ranger build that doesn't involve traps. I can now show you two.

ROFL first off we aren't talking about coldfires we are talking about grasping darknesses (aka: squidies)
and yes I can show you two reliable ones that can finish a run in half the time it would take to trap.

I can complete a run using the R/Rt build and also this build as a R/Me.
Famine [E]
Ancestor's Visage
Sympathetic Visage
Physical Resistance
Troll Unguent
Natural Stride
Storm Chaser
Illusion of Weakness
12 Illusion
6 Inspiration
14 Wilderness (mask+sup rune)
6+ expertise (rest of atts + what ever rune you want)
Weapons:
Spear - any works just needs +5energy mod with +20% enchant (any physical weapon with those mods will work really. Spear is my choice do to the fact its range. I'm able to "re-pull" the runners with out breaking aggro of others)
Shield - +45hp in stance -2dmg stance
Armor: Full set of druids (energy is a must)
Run is simple, enter UW and cast Weakness. Run over and grab quest that spawns the squidies. If you catch aggro use Stride to break it. From their you will need to pull ONE squid group at a time. You must cast famine on the opposite side of which you will be pulling squids from. Aggro the squid group and turn instantly (using stride). This will break aggro from the aatxe's. Once your outside aggro of your spirit/aatxe's stop and use physical resistance. The first move from the squidies will always be an interrupt so you MUST wait for each of them to hit you once. Then alternate the visages while keeping troll up. Once all squidies are dead, you can run to the smites. Rinse and repeat the process for smites.
Side notes:
1. 3 or more in group they will scatter
2. Spirit should be 1 and 1/2 aggro circle away (due to scatter)
3. avoid coldfires
4. Max number of smites you can handle is 5 (one group)
5. Practice/patience
Once you get the run down and learn "safe spots/safe spirit locations" it will only take 20-25min. max.

Dude, he is talking to this guy that was asking if this build would work Rt/R, so it isn't spam. But really, there is a better build with a ritualist, but nor a ranger. This build works quite well.
Edit: Daky, I saw that build on Youtube the other day. It worked out quite well at the start, but the guy's health got low constantly and he almost died several times. It also takes quite awhile to kill each group.

Your fine on health as long as you got illusion. And they drop just as fast (if not faster) then a VwK build. But...after the update...seems solo farming is a thing of the past. GG

im fully aware of other Rit build (in fact I've been doing VwK since the day Dahnel posted it, since you've mention VwK you should be very familiar with the name Dahnel)
The main question I'd like to ask is does expertise really essential for this build to work? sorry i really caused some misunderstanding here.
